Netswidget

Description

Widget that visualizes the currently used network and the signal strength; provides shortcut to the mobile network settings.

Especially when UMTS signal is weak and in mode "GSM / WCDMA auto", the network is being toggled automatically between 2G and 3G or rather between GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA... This leads to considerable battery drainage. When using GSM normally instead und switching to a faster network only when necessary, battery life can quite be doubled.

The widget visualizes

Clicking on the widget opens the mobile network settings page, where the preferred network mode can be set; direct changes are not allowed by the Google API. When the display is off, the widget doesn't consume energy. In the case of problems please contact by mail.

Requires the permission to read the phone state.
